2023 NU-HOPE Tree of Hope is a Grand Success!

2nd Annual NU-HOPE Tree of Hope is huge success!

2023 marked the 2nd year that NU-HOPE held its Tree of Hope for Seniors campaign.  In October, Santa’s elves spread an urgent message throughout the community: Seniors need to be remembered this holiday season. Will you help?

What started as trying to help a handful of isolated seniors grew in 2023 to include over 100 special seniors who needed a little extra boost of cheer during the holidays.  There was definitely the need for extra holiday magic this year. But would our community rise up to meet this challenge?

Yes! Santa’s elves are proud to say that the response from the community was overwhelming.

Shortly after the elves helped NU-HOPE to spread the request for assistance throughout the community, people began bringing presents into NU-HOPE Elder Care Services. Each gift was selected from a Wish List submitted by the seniors, themselves.

What was on these Wish Lists?

Some seniors just asked for simple things such as socks or basic clothing. Others asked for things to help them pass the time. A few asked for special items tied to deep, personal memories.

The list was a varied as the people- but reading would bring a smile to even Scrooge’s face! Specific requests ranged from nightgowns, needlework supplies, electric heaters, bread makers, special snacks, and even recliner and a ‘Christmas Cake with Marzipan Icing.” Many seniors didn’t even for themselves, but instead requested that Santa bring something special for their 4-legged friend!

Whether it was a simple, fairly common item or a unique, highly personal gift, each item selected was certain to brighten the days of an older resident.

One thing is certainly true- The Holiday Spirit is alive and well in our community!

So…On behalf of NU-HOPE, the seniors we serve, and Santa, himself, please join us in saying “THANK YOU!” Our community is truly amazing…
